The Culture and Leisure Administration is responsible for cultural schools, libraries, museums, events, art halls, association grants, cultural historical environments, swimming, sports, and outdoor life.

The Culture Unit works with:

  • Production and coordination of open program activities and stage technology
  • Communication for concerts, dance and theater performances, fairs, festivals, discussions, and exhibitions
  • Sandviken's art hall, public art, and art pedagogy
  • Production and coordination of the Cultural Promise (all students aged 4-16 in the municipality are offered professional cultural experiences and their own cultural activities during school and preschool hours each school year)
  • Production and coordination of Well-being 2026-2028 – a strategic coordination of cultural and leisure offerings for seniors and other care recipients
  • Rental of facilities at the Culture Center and about ten additional properties that serve as venues for the non-profit sector in the municipality
  • Support for folk education and associations, museums, and cultural historical environments, scholarships, and awards

The Culture Unit works closely with other public actors, the free cultural sector, and the non-profit sector both within and outside Sandviken. The unit has a coordinating mission within the cultural house Culture Center, where premises, offerings, and communication are coordinated with the Public Library, Literature House Trampolin, Cultural School, and People's House.

The Culture Unit's working group consists of a unit manager, two cultural producers, five cultural coordinators, a communicator, and stage technicians. The unit is regularly complemented by art and culture hosts, stage and exhibition technicians, and other contractors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Cultural Coordinator with a focus on program planning will work as an integrated part of the Culture Unit's various program activities with:

  • Coordination, planning, administration, and logistics within Well-being
  • Administration and logistics within the Cultural Promise
  • Administration and logistics within open program activities at the Culture Center

In the work with program planning, responsibilities include booking transportation, venues, writing contracts, planning and monitoring project budgets, maintaining statistics, compiling information for cultural pilots and cultural and leisure representatives, and compiling program details.

The role also includes assisting in reporting and applying for external funding.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with others in the unit as well as cultural educators, business developers, and more within the Culture Center and external parties.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in the cultural field
  • Work experience in the cultural field, preferably in a politically governed organization
  • Work experience in cultural production, program planning, and cultural administration
  • Strong administrative skills
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • Competence to work in various digital systems from publishing on the intranet to digital planning tools such as Excel, Teams, and Outlook

OTHER

Uncomfortable working hours may be included in the position, staffing during evenings and weekends may occur.
